Meet the team: Caitlin O’Morchoe

Caitlin O’Morchoe is Mereweg’s director of operations and engagement, and brings more than a decade of experience across the blue economy.

From the deck to the shore

Caitlin studied marine biology, then began her career at sea, working on tall ships as professional crew and as an education programme manager. She later moved ashore to focus on ocean science engagement.

Building a cluster in Seattle

After a Master’s degree in public administration, Caitlin became one of the first employees of the Maritime Blue cluster organisation in Seattle. There she helped put Washington State’s blue economy strategy and marine conservation initiatives into practice, developing programmes where the maritime industry and marine biodiversity conservation meet. She also provided governance expertise in managing Maritime Blue’s board of directors.

Turning dialogue into decisions

Caitlin specialises in bringing the public, private and non-profit sectors together. Her focus is on creating inclusive, collaborative spaces where technical experts, innovators, policymakers and industry can move from talking to deciding.

At Mereweg, she draws on her programme management, operations and stakeholder engagement experience to build the organisation as England’s blue economy hub.
